Ingredients
3 - 4 -
white bread
2 teaspoons -
butter
1 large -
egg
3 tablespoons -
milk
-
cinnamon
-
maple syrup
Directions
- First you need white bread like pain de mie (sandwich bread or pullman loaf) or, if you like a little crunch, go for a crusty baguette. About one or two slices of bread per cup cut into ¾" (2cm) cubes.
- Rub a pat of butter around the inside of two cups to coat them. Place the cubed bread into the cups (one big cup works fine if you are feeling hungry!). Gently press it down a bit but don't compact it because you need the liquid to be able to work it's way in.
- Crack the egg into a small bowl or ramekin and add the milk. Sprinkle with cinnamon and mix together well with a fork. Pour the mixture over the bread into the cups and give it a minute to soak into the bread.
- Place the cups in the microwave. Start with one minute, then add ten seconds at a time until everything is cooked to your liking (no runny egg). In my microwave that';s 1 minute, 20 seconds but yours may be a little different.
- Pour as much syrup over the top as you like and repeat every day!!!
