How to Cook Cheese and Egg Toastie
- Grate (shred) or crumble the cheese. Place the milk in a pan, add the cheese then add a pinch of salt and a twist or two of freshly ground pepper. Heat the mixture gently while stirring until the cheese has melted. Beat the eggs and add to the pan. Continue to stir and cook gently for about 3 minutes until the mixture is reasonably firm. Serve on buttered toast.
If you inadvertently burn your toast a little, it may not be necessary to throw it away. Toast that has been scraped with a knife often still tastes burned because the burnt crumbs have fallen back into the bread. To avoid this, scrape the toast with the burnt side facing down. The bitter-tasting crumbs will then fall away from and not into the bread.
