How to convert color into RGB and Hex Values
As if HTML wasn't already bad enough, you have to specify color values in 6 digit, hexadecimal numbers, or use an
exact name (no punctuation or spelling mistakes).
A quickie explanation of how it works...
All colors generated by your computer are combinations of the primary colors red, green and blue. The values of red, green and blue can range from 0 to 255. Zero is the darkest value and 255 the lightest. All the possible combinations of the primary colors allow for 16,777,216 unique color values. (Remember this for parties.) To specify colors in html, you give the red value first, the green second and the blue last. The catch is you must use the hexadecimal number system. Hexadecimal is base 16, so there are 16 digits ranging from 0 to 9 and continuing from A through F. The hexadecimal number #FF equals 255, the highest color value. With red, green and blue all set to zero, you get black. In hexadecimal it looks like this: "#000000. With red, green and blue set to their brightest values give you white: "#FFFFFF." .... Get it?
Don't worry if you didn't; the following table displays all the colors in the so-called
X11 color set. You can use either the
Color Name or (preferably) the
RGB Value in the "background_color" and "text_color" fields attribute.
