PLEASE NOTE: This recipe calls for the GRILLING or BROILING of food. In most countries of the world, the term "grilling" refers to heat coming from above the food source. Significantly, in North America, it signifies heat from below the food (such as barbecuing). In the United States and Canada, when the heat source for grilling comes from above, grilling is termed broiling, and the pan that holds the food is usually called a broiler pan.
How to Cook Bacon and Cheese Toastie
- Toast the bread. Grate (shred) or crumble the cheese and spread it evenly over the toast (you can slice the cheese thinly if you prefer, and lay the slices on the toast). Cut the bacon into small pieces and sprinkle on top of the cheese. Place the toasties under a hot grill until the cheese begins to bubble. Eat immediately!
GRAHAM'S HOT TIP:
If you want to add an extra 'tang' to your toastie, you can add a dash of Worcestershire Sauce to the cheese. Alternatively, serve your toastie with either a little brown sauce or thick spicy barbecue sauce.
