Whether eaten with a knife and fork or with your fingers, this Fried Cheese and Ham Sandwich makes a great quick breakfast with a cup of coffee (though watch your cholesterol!!)

You can use bacon instead of ham for this if you cook the bacon first!!

Makes 1 toasted sandwich:
2 oz
Cheddar cheese (grated)
2 slices
white bread
1 slice
ham
1 tablespoon
butter

mustard

How to Cook Fried Cheese and Ham Sandwich

  1. Spread a little mustard of your choice (I personally prefer Dijon) onto one slice of bread, place a slice of ham on top and trim the ham so it doesn't overlap the edges of the bread. Cover with half the cheese then press the second slice of bread firmly on top.
  2. Heat the butter in a frying pan. Place the sandwich in the pan and brown it lightly on both sides. When browned, sprinkle the other half of the cheese on top, place a lid on the frying pan and continue to cook gently for a further 2-3 minutes until the cheese on top has melted.

Graham GRAHAM'S HOT TIP:
Don't fry your sandwich too quickly otherwise the cheese in the middle won't have time to melt.

Comfort cholesterol on a plate!! Wickedly bad but wickedly tempting. I prefer the bacon and cheese version to the ham and cheese version, but either way, it does fill a hole!
